Plant and Seed Catalogs-What’s New For 2012?
It’s hard to believe, the year is almost over, and the frenzy of Christmas Shopping is all around us, but while checking my mail today, I noticed that the new plant and seed catalogs are starting to arrive. I couldn’t wait to get home, make a hot cup of tea and settle down next to the fire in my big comfy chair. Ok, so I’m just like a big kid, browsing through the Christmas Wish Book Catalog, except for one minor thing. My Wish Book Catalogs are the new Plant and Seed Catalogs for 2012. They are just starting to trickle in, but how that sets my mind to dreaming of all the possibilities for the new year.
I just love looking at all the new merchandise that have come out for the New Gardening Season. My gardening dreams for the coming year are always so very optimistic. Sometimes, I think that I enjoy the planning and dreaming just as much as I do the actual hands on gardening. When it’s cold outside, I like to go over my past gardening year journals and see what worked and what didn’t. What could I change this year? Are there new varieties of tomatoes and vegetables out there? Maybe the plan should be to stick to what worked this past summer, but I like to be daring and I always manage to try a few new varieties of fruits, and veggies, and oh, all those beautiful flowers!
Video Explaining How To Read Plant And Seed Catalogs
If you are interested, above is a video that explains a little on how to read your plant and seed catalogs, and what the terminology and abbreviations are all about. It’s a good listen, if you are new to gardening and plant and seed catalogs. As I tell my kids there’s more information then just all the pretty pictures.
So, I’ve managed to have spent the past blissful hour dreaming of all the gardening possibilities and all the new opportunities to make 2012 my best gardening year yet.
But it’s time to get back to work and finish with all my unpacking. I’m not sure if I had mentioned it, but I’ve just moved into a new house on an acre of property. It’s just big enough for me and to think of all the planning and gardening I can do on that acre.
So, now I hope you can understand why I’m having so much fun browsing the new plant and seed catalogs that are coming in. It’s like starting from scratch, and there is no end to all the gardening possibilities ahead of me.
With all the stress of moving I’m a bit under the weather, my immune system must be down because I’ve managed to catch a cold and I’ll say it hasn’t been much fun. I think that is why this ad caught my eye when I was browsing through Burpee’s Gardening 2012 plant and seed catalogs. So they introduced a New Vegetable Collection called Burpee’s Boost, New for 2012. It’s a collection of six of their most nutritional and delicious vegetables to give you that little extra oomph. BTW, what I read is that they are good for either planting in beds or containers, so if you are short of space and can only use containers for gardening, then there is no reason why you can’t plant these super healthy vegetables. Why not grow your own nutritional veggies packed with the vitamins that we need to give our immune systems that all essential Boost! Besides it’s way more fun and satisfying growing your own veggies then going to the store and buying a bottle of vitamins.
Coming Soon!!
Stay tuned for a list some of the top plant and seed catalogs for 2012.
So, by now you must know I’m a fan of puzzles and I’m just leaving you today with a fun little jigsaw puzzle online – a vintage growing tomatoes year.
Until next time
